Inquiry Arts is a social cohesion design and practice venture. We help people and communities navigate complex challenges and opportunities with greater creativity, adaptability and possibility. We partner with visionary leaders in civic, cultural, business and academic spheres recognizing that community strength and resilience requires building people’s sense of belonging and developing communities that honor a multiplicity of backgrounds and experiences.  

To do this, our interdisciplinary team combines excellence in crafting, directing and performing powerful music, spoken word and theatrical projection with pedagogies of listening, leaning and inquiry to:

• Facilitate moving experiences for people to be seen, with dignity, through Listening Labs and In Our Words: Community Portrait Live Documentaries.
These projects are not about agreement. But they are about understanding, and being understood: What are the backstories leading you to be who are, see what you see, know what you know?

• Cultivate skills and capacities for leadership and psychological safety through a range of experiential workshops

• Help organizations hone impactful projects and secure foundational funding through thought partnership and consultancy

We are driven by convictions that every person has a story that matters, that being seen and understood is a basic human need, and that artists, and the performing arts, can contribute in vital, unique ways to seemingly disparate realms. 

Inquiry Arts programs have received multiple funding awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Boston Foundation, New England Foundation for the Arts and Western Arts Alliance for artistry, cultural preservation, and strengthening of communities through the arts.
